Product F.A.Q.

Knock-off wheels, also known as “knock-off wire wheels,” are a type of wire wheel that features a center hub that is held in place by a threaded cap or spinner. The cap or spinner is “knocked off” with a special tool to remove the wheel from the hub. Knock-off wire wheels were commonly used on classic cars, particularly British sports cars, in the mid-20th century. Today, knock off wire wheels are popular in lowrider culture.

To see our detailed wire wheel installation instructions, click here.

We recommend finding an installer who has experience mounting wire wheels. Inexperienced installers lead to improper installation and are more prone to scratching and damaging wheels. Find a shop that works on lowriders, hot rods, or custom builds – avoid “big box” stores.

A lead hammer  is necessary for wire wheel maintenance as it allows you to tighten or loosen spinner caps without damaging the wheel or cap finish. The non-marring lead hammer prevents dents and scratches on the surface finish. It’s particularly important for winged spinner caps, including 2 and 3-bar spinner caps. However, using a lead hammer for hex and bullet-style caps that require a wrench is also recommended for proper tightening and to prevent accidental damage.

When you sit inside the vehicle, the driver’s side is the left side, and the passenger side is the right. Therefore, the red adapters go on the right side of the vehicle, and the white adapters go on the left side. If using chrome adapters, a stamp/marking should indicate Left (L) or Right (R). To see more detailed installation instructions, click here.

Knock off wheel adapters have multiple sizes listed because they are designed to fit a range of different wheel sizes. The PCD or bolt pattern of wire wheels can vary depending on the make and model of the car. As a result, wheel adapters are made in various sizes and bolt patterns to accommodate different wire wheel types and car models. It’s important to select the correct size adapter for your specific wire wheel and vehicle to ensure a proper fit and safe installation. You can look up your vehicle’s bolt pattern online or email/call/text us with any questions.

It is also worth mentioning that wire wheel adapters are available in both left-hand and right-hand thread configurations. If purchasing a single wire wheel adapter, be sure to confirm which side thread (left/right) your wheel requires before buying an adapter.

The term “universal fitment” of lowrider wire wheel accessories means the product is designed to fit a wide range of lowrider wire wheels. These accessories are made to be compatible with different brands and sizes of lowrider wire wheels, which makes them versatile and suitable for various lowrider models. This can include accessories like knock-off adapters, spinners, or center caps that have a universal fitment design to allow for easy installation and compatibility with different lowrider wire wheel sizes and styles. For example, our knock off adapters and spinner caps are compatible with imported and domestic branded wire wheels between 13-22” – we include all relevant info on the product listings so you feel confident in your decision.

A cut or recessed spinner cap is a type of decorative cap that is used on wire wheels. It has a distinctive design that features a recessed center section surrounded by raised edges.

The cut or recessed design of the spinner cap is intended to add visual interest and depth to the cap, creating a more dynamic appearance than a flat or domed cap. It can also be used to showcase a logo or other design element in the center of the cap using a wire wheel chip emblem. Cut or recessed spinner caps are a popular choice among lowriders who want to add a touch of style and customization to their wire wheels.

Our wire wheels are available in two offsets: Standard and Reverse offset, catering to vehicles with low offsets ranging from +13mm to +20mm, which are commonly associated with rear-wheel drive (RWD) vehicles. On the other hand, high offset wheels, like +35mm, are typically found in front-wheel drive (FWD) cars, though exceptions exist, such as some rear-wheel drive (RWD) Mercedes vehicles.

If your vehicle is front-wheel drive and requires a high offset wheel, opting for Standard or Reverse offset wire wheels may cause them to protrude past the fenders, potentially resulting in rubbing, hitting, or hindering your vehicle’s turning capabilities.

To ensure a suitable fit, we do not offer any Front Wheel Drive (FWD) offset wire wheels. While you can choose a Standard offset wire wheel for your FWD vehicle, it may necessitate modifications to prevent rubbing and ensure legal road compliance with the potential requirement of mud flaps.

This decision is due to FWD wire wheels having spokes closer to the wheel’s lip, making them susceptible to damage during installation and certain driving conditions, such as encountering curbs or potholes. Additionally, seating the tire’s bead properly can be challenging, as it may hang up on the silicone.

For optimal performance and compatibility, we recommend selecting the appropriate offset based on your vehicle’s drivetrain configuration. If you have any inquiries or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer support team.

Yes, lowrider wire wheels are legal as long as they meet certain safety standards, such as load capacity, diameter, and other regulations. However, it’s important to check with your state’s laws regarding tire size and modifications to your vehicle.

No, we do not sell tires.
